Project Description

Hygienik installed wall and shower linings in a new wing of Lewisham Hospital in South London.

We installed wall linings in 180 new assisted shower rooms in a new wing of University Hospital Lewisham in South London. It contains 419 beds, many of which are in four-bed bays. Each bays has an assisted shower room and these have been part-lined with 2.5mm K-Panel fixed to a solid wall.

Andy Hope, the project’s Construction Manager, stressed the importance of the wall linings meeting their high specifications. “The principal reason for choosing this system was that it is easy to clean and very durable, so it can cope with impact during access and egress. It will keep maintenance costs down during the 30 year maintenance contract.”

Mr Hope had previously specified Hygienik Systems wall linings for a refurbishment project at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
